This was my part-time job during my sophomore year at UC Berkeley. I was privileged to work with and learned from incredible people of the Blum Center for Developing Economies, including Robert Reich and Tamara Straus.
Central to the minor is a six-week fieldwork opportunity—the Practice Experience—in which students connect theory with action by partnering with nongovernmental or community organizations, government agencies, or other development programs domestically or abroad.
Students can view different Practice Experiences on Student Stories page to learn more about different locations of field trips, types of projects, and their social impact.
The webpage doesn't serve its purpose to the audience, leaving many users feel vague about different types of field trip projects and their impact on local communities. It also doesn't feel accessible for organizations, where students volunteered at during the practice experience, to review and reflect on their community impact.
